Wardha Scheme

  • Wardha scheme of Basic Education (1937), worked out by the Zakir Hussain Committee after Mahatma Gandhi published a series of articles in the Harijan.
  • It centred ¬†around ‘manual productive work’ which would cover the remuneration of teachers.
  • There was to be a seven year course through the mother tongue of the students. It was to be centred around crafts.
