Regulating Act of 1773
- This Act was the first step in the direction of the consolidation of British rule and centralization fo administration in India.
- The Governor General of Bengal was made the Governor General of the company in India and the Governors of Madras and Bombay were subordinated to him.
- A Supreme Court, independent of the Governor General and the council, was created at Calcutta.
- A council of four members was constituted for the assistance of the Governor General.
